Houston is Shingari’s School of Rhythm Flagship school! Founded in 2008, it now has over 200 students! This year, the Houston school performed their annual dance show, The Heroine with Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri as the chief guest!

We have recently partnered with new Millennium Montessori School and now is offering Bollywood lessons at the Montessori schools! That’s right! We are bringing dance to YOU! Contact us for more information!

Anusha David


Anusha David loves working with children and sharing her passion for dance. She studied Bharatnatyam and hiphop when she was younger and continues dancing as a hobby, mainly in western styles. Anusha works with Cynthia to fulfill many administrative tasks at the School and accompanies the students and instructors at several performances around town. She is currently a psychology student at University of Houston.

Cynthia D'Cunha


Cynthia D'Cunha started dancing at the age of six and mastered many forms of Indian folk dance. She is also trained in modern, contemporary and hip-hop. She spent several years as a student at Shingari's School of Rhythm and graduated the program in 2010. Cynthia manages several administrative functions at the School & can be contacted if you have any questions. She is currently an engineering student at University of Houston.

Jenny Zachariah


Jenny Sachariah began her dance training at a young age with Divya Unni at Sreepadam School of Arts where she learned Bharatnatyam, kuchipudi and mohiniyattam. She continued her training at Shingari's School of Rhythm and expanded her skills to include semi-classical and fusion styles. Jenny performed and competed in many shows as a member of SSR's performance group and was a flash mob coordinator for church regional sports tournament

Lyn Victor


Lyn Victor began dancing at the age of seven at Nritya School of Dance in Houston. She studied Bharatnatyam for over 12 years and then continued her passion for dance as she competed and placed in numerous regional and national competitions. For years, she choreographed and instructed adults and children for many community dance events. She specializes in Bharatnatyam, folk, semi-classical, fusion and Bollywood styles. Lyn teaches the classes at Shingari's School of Rhythm in Pearland, Texas.

Steven Sookraj


Steven Sookraj has a long history of performing and training with Shingari's School of Rhythm in cinematic and fusion styles. He has danced for numerous major dance productions and enjoys dancing at fundraising events. He is requesting often to perform at community events and is also a member of Barcode, a men's fusion hiphop dance group in Houston. Steven has competed and placed in several competitions and instructs the boys classes at SSR.

Biju Jose


Biju Jose began dancing at the age of four at Anjali Center for Performing Arts. She studied Bharatnatyam, kuchipudi and folk styles for 10 years and then dabbled in Bollywood dance. She studied western styles including modern, jazz and lyrical while in high school and co-founded an Indian fusion dance company called Indian Urban Beat during college. She also co-founded a Bollywood dance company after college called Mihira. Along with successfully merging Indian and Western styles, Biju also began studying Kathak, both Lucknow and Jaipuri styles. She teaches the adult Bollywood class at Shingari's School of Rhythm (Houston) on Sunday afternoons & Wednesday nights
